Pink Pink and more Pink: Pink baby shower

by Elizabeth Norton

Every woman dreams of one day having her very own baby girl. So when that time comes, we cannot think of anything but one thing… PINK!

And if someone could hear our inner monologues as we plan for our little bundle of pink-ness…. they would hear a chant with a very familiar tune ..

“Rhinestones, and Lace and Bows – O My!”

It was only 1 year ago, I was helping plan my Pink “Sprinkle” (a shower taken down a notch… or not.) Here are a few things we did to spread the word

that “ITS A GIRL”.

*

Invitations must go out…. *

It was a simple 5×7 invitation with a little baby girl being brought in by the stork in a (ofcourse) PINK blanket.

The wording said as follows:

Pins, Diapers, Bottles Galore

(mothers name) and (fathers name) are having one more

Big (sister/brother) has plenty to share

This is only a “sprinkle” to show that we care

Please join us to celebrate before baby is due

Please sprinkle with pink and please NO blue.

*

Next, Registry.*

I had lots of stuff I could recycle from my son, but to put a little girl in anything (GASP) blue?!? no way!

So immediately I ran to register for all covers available!

Boppy Seat Cover, Car seat cover (you can find some super girly ones through ebay!), pink, pink, pink, pink, pink! … (and maybe a hint of purple;) )

*Then it was the Decor!*

We decorated with lots of pink balloons, one HUGE one right by the door of a baby bottle that read IT’S A GIRL! (in case anyone wasn’t sure)

All party ware (plates, cups, napkins) were pink… easy to find at your local party (or Dollar) store.

There were not one but TWO Diaper cakes with all things girl decorating it.

On each table, the centerpieces were dresses stuffed and put on a pedestal, along with candy dishes of pink and white M&Ms.

We had a large chair decorated in pink streamers for me to sit in to open my gifts.

The cake matched the baby’s bedding set which was a soft pink and lavender with beautiful butterflies.

As an additional snack, we made chocolate covered pretzels that were ofcourse drizzled with pink chocolate as well.

*Favors!*

For favors we picked out these adorable manicure set that was in a flip flop case that was pink with black polka dots.

Can you think of anything more girly than a mani-pedi set?

All in all, it was a great shower.  My daughter got lots of pink,… infact SO much pink that when planning her christening-

we decided her signature color would be TIFFANY BLUE!
