Indiana Jones Birthday Cake

Usually, I am pretty good at cake making. I am not sure what happened this particular day. The batter turned out really thick and I knew from the moment that I put it in the over something was not going to work. I would love to tell you I was calm and collected but that would be lying and I pride myself on honestly and transparency. I was a mass of tears and a nervous wreck. Just ask Jessica. She will tell you. We put our heads together and saved the day cake! What would a birthday be without a cake anyway?

As normal things sometimes don’t workout as planned and ,just as in this case, might even work out a little better.

Here was my steps.

-Make a Cake that doesn’t turn out.(please skip this step) Either make a successful cake or by a simple pre-made one from the grocery store.

-Never the less you will need Wilton Natural Colors Fondant, Multi Pack. Although it isnt the best tasting icing this is what the professionals use to make wedding cakes and such. So far, I have found 2 different types of fondant. I like english fondant the best.

-You will also need a Wilton Fondant 9 Inch Rolling Pin. Any roller is ok, but I prefer this one from wilton. If I wasn’t in such a hurry making it then I would have though to use it. It makes a more leveled layer on fondant.
I also made rice crispie squares for the base of the hat. I choose rice crispie squares because it can be molded into the shape of a hat and is eatable. (marshmallows would have worked as well)

-I then used the Wilton Sports Ball Pan Set to make a bolder rolling after a toy character of Indiana Jones. I love that we added brown sugar to look like dirt. The kids loved this.
