Last evening, I had the pleasure of discussing cupcakes vs. cakes and store bought vs. homemade over Twitter and Facebook. We tweeted and Facebooked for some time. Ultimately, I am looking at overall worth of buying a cupcake rack for my next shindig.
The overall census was that cupcakes indeed do save more money vs. cake. One Twitter(@riposter) even shared her tip of using an ice cream scoop to keep the cupcake size even. (that’s a great idea)
Overall when it’s time to consider store bought vs making your own cake here are some things I would consider.
1. How much time do you have?
2. Is it your child’s first birthday? Some stores offer free cakes for first time birthdays with proof of age?
3. Do you enjoy baking or will you find this stressful?
4. Do you prefer organic food? Sometimes baking from scratch is the only way to go.
5. My final suggestion is to check out the new www.dealseekingmom.com database for the latest coupons out on cake mixes and icing. This made me so excited I wanted to throw a party right then and there!
What ever you decide I hope you have a yummy treat and enjoy your slice of (or cup) cake!
P.s. I will keep you posted on that cupcake rack. Still trying to decide if it will be a worth while purchase for me. They do make a nice display though.
