3 Fun Baby Shower Games

3 fun party games for the baby shower.

1. Diaper a Watermelon – pretty self explanatory…. make groups/teams and whichever one can diaper the watermelon first wins

2. Toilet paper Wrap – As guests arrive at the shower, have a roll of toilet paper there, and tell each guest to take as much as they think they will need. (most will take modest amounts to not look unladylike, lol)
then after everyone has theirs later during the shower, ask everyone to get their piece out. Have the pregnant mommy stand up and whomevers piece of toilet paper can wrap all the way around her belly, or comes closest, wins !

3. Clothes Pin game – every guest gets a clothes or safety pin upon arrival, make up a word (Usually “BABY”) whenever someone says “BABY” whoever catches them gets to steal their clothes pin, and if the person has like 3 you get to take all 3. whichever guest has the most pins when the time is up (you choose a set time) that person wins.

Wishing You a Wonderful Baby Shower !!!

Aren’t Just for Girls Anymore: Co-Ed Baby Showers

11 tips: Co-Ed baby shower
1.  No matter what absolutely no pink on invitations or in decorations.  Think of the guys! Try a themed shower or a BBQ if your baby shower is Co Ed

2.  Make sure there are more than 5 men there and make it clear in the invitation that men are desired attendees.

3.  Check the calendar! Don’t schedule the party during a major sports game or all your men will split from the party.

4.  Mini tool kits make great party favor for the guys. That way they can put their tools and muscles right to work by putting the gifts together right then and there!

5.  Having plenty of food available is important at any shower, but it’s downright crucial at a Co Ed Baby Shower. And by food we mean things guys would eat too! Not just petit fours and finger sandwiches!

6.  Consider your audience before deciding to throw a co-ed shower. Include the Dad only if you really feel the mom-to-be will appreciate sharing the day with him. If she’s a more traditional girl she might not appreciate the change.

7.  Pick games that are personalized and give out fun prizes that the guests will really enjoy. Putting together quizes on the parents-to-be are always fun.

8.  Since the mom-to-be shouldn’t be drinking, you might want to forgo alcohol. But if you really want to serve alcoholic drinks make sure to also serve some fun “virgin” drinks.

9. Make your guest list diverse. Don’t just invite the mom-to-be’s friends, make sure the dad-to-be’s buddies are also on the invited.

10.  It takes two to tango, two to make a baby, so why not a co-ed baby shower.  I was so dissapointed when my husband decided to treck down stairs and not open the gifts with me at my own shower.  Is it just a Woman thing? Not anymore. When I threw my first co-ed baby shower for a friend, I was soooooo enlightned to be part of the experience.

11.  It might be a baby shower, but remember to celebrate the couple. This is all about the big change in their life and the little person that was created from their love. Include everyone – it’s the beauty of a Co Ed baby Shower.

Mom of Faith: Blessings for Baby

Spring marks the beginning of baby season and in honor of all the new arrivals I have compiled a few of my favorite baby blessing poems and quotes.  My own daughters were dedicated in our church directly after their birth and I found many of these during this time.

Baby Blessing Poetry

Officiant’s Baby Blessing
(Courtesy of American Association of Wedding Officiants)

Dearest (insert baby’s name here) born of two hearts
You are grace
You are beauty
You are love beyond measure
And gift without price

We are gathered this day
To introduce you to your greater family,
And to bless you, before the world
Even as we have been blessed by your birth!

We offer you to the Four Winds
That you might embrace adventure
And know the wonder of far-off lands

We offer you to the Sky
That you may steer by the stars
And never feel that you are far from home

We offer you to the Sun
That warmth and light may surround you always
And guide you safely on your way

We offer you to the Moon
That you may find comfort in darkness
And never have cause to fear the night

Baptism Blessing

“May the God of All Creation who formed you beneath your Mother’s heart, smile on you this Holy Day of Baptism. Living Waters baptize you at the Font of New Life and anoint you with the grace of Jesus.  May all who watch over you be blessed with Awe and they behold the perfect gift of Love that you are. May the Light of Christ guide you always in the path of Truth as you grow in Wisdom, Grace and Love”.

Irish Baby Blessing

May all the blessing of our Lord touch your life today.
May He send His little angels to protect you on your way.
Such a wee little fit, sent from above.
Someone so precious to cherish and love.
May sunshine and moonbeams dance over you head.
As you quietly slumber in your bed.
May good luck be with you wherever you go.

And your blessings outnumber the shamrocks that grow.

Baby Blessing Quotes

A baby is God’s opinion that the world should go on.
Carl Sandburg

Having a child is surely the most beautifully irrational act that two people in love can commit.
Bill Cosby

If one feels the need of something grand, something infinite, something that makes one feel aware of God, one need not go far to find it. I think that I see something deeper, more infinite, more eternal than the ocean in the expression of the eyes of a little baby when it wakes in the morning and coos or laughs because it sees the sun shining on its cradle.
Vincent van Gogh

Take a sprinkling of fairy dust,
An angel’s single feather,
Also a dash of love and care,
Then mix them both together.
Add a sentiment or two,
A thoughtful wish or line,
A touch of stardust, a sunshine ray…
It’s a recipe, for a Baby Girl truly fine.
